OCHP Prison Ministry
Led by Reginald Mayes
Brother Reginald is the founding member of the ministry. Their first meeting was in September 2019.
Restoring Hope Behind Bars
When Jesus said, “I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Matthew 25:36), He reminded the Church that no soul is unreachable. At One Church @ Harvest Point, that calling is carried out through the Prison Ministry—a team of faithful men and women who bring love, truth, and transformative hope to those within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system.
Serving Where Hope Feels Lost
The mission of the Prison Ministry is clear: offer hope to the hopeless. Through consistent acts of love—prayer, gospel sharing, teaching, and mentoring—this ministry steps behind prison walls to speak directly to hearts longing for redemption.
“We offer hope to the hopeless… through prayer, sharing the gospel, teaching, and mentoring,” shared one team leader. In spaces often marked by despair, this team brings the joy and light of Christ.
The Joy of Sharing the Gospel
When asked about their favorite part of serving, the answer was immediate and heartfelt:
“I love sharing the gospel, praying, and teaching.”
This ministry isn’t just about programs—it’s about personal encounters with Jesus. Each trip into the prison is a chance to speak hope, offer prayer, and plant seeds of faith.
Building Community Within the Team
The care doesn’t stop at the prison gate. OCHP’s Prison Ministry team operates in unity, support, and spiritual accountability.
“We pray together before each visit and share testimonies of our experiences,” they shared. That intentional time of connection builds trust and fosters a sense of spiritual family among volunteers—just as much as it blesses those they serve.
The Power of a Life Transformed
The fruit of their labor is clear—and it’s powerful. One story stood out in particular:
“Raymundo,” a man who placed his trust in Christ through the ministry, is now reading five chapters a day in his Bible—a spiritual hunger awakened by the gospel’s power and the faithful encouragement of volunteers.
His story is one of many—lives turned from darkness to light, from shame to salvation.
Answering the Call
The Prison Ministry is a clear example of what it means to live on mission—to go where others cannot, and to minister where the need is great. By partnering with God’s heart for restoration, this team reminds us that God’s grace reaches past walls and deep into lives.
